BRIDGES is a video installation developed from archival drawings, architectural plans, and iconic imagery of St. Petersburg’s bridges, sourced from the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and publicly available digital archives.
The collected material was scanned and computationally analysed to extract latent structural and fractal geometries embedded within the architecture. These geometries were then recomposed through creative coding and AI-based processes, transforming historical bridge structures into dynamic digital systems.
Bridges are one of the most transformative engineering marvels of all time. From San Francisco, New York, Venice, St. Petersburg, Gibraltar, and Istanbul, bridges are a powerful creator of connection and possibility. Bridges connect people, communities, and economies, creating opportunities out of impossibilities. But a bridge is more than just spans of pavement across a chasm; a bridge as a metaphor is about connecting through communication, bringing people together on an issue or idea, and helping us get to a destination.
